Howdy hello (bows to welcome another newbie)

Well...I haven't seen any tutorials that show how to put pictures in them as of yet - so heres one:

<UL TYPE=SQUARE>
* First create a new layer, use the marquee tool to create your round button (press shift for a perfect circle)
* Give the circle marquee you made a colour (ALT+BKSP)

The images in those examples look like a type of font (like webdings / wingdings) so.....
* Click on the Text tool (T on keyboard) and copy, paste the following:

abcdefghijklmnopqrtsuvwxyz ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ `1234567890-=\[];',./ ~!@#$%^&*()_+

Making an icon button is fairly easy.
Making an icon button say what you want it to say is hard.
A picture may be worth 1000 words, but sometimes they are the wrong words. Be careful how you use them. Do lots of 'test'. That is, ask lots of people what they think those buttons mean...not in context, not in a page. Just show them the buttons and ask them what they mean. You may find that people don't have a clue what you are trying to tell them. I noticed that your examples include text description under the icons. Unless you are REALLY good, and the symbols you are using are standards (like home, search, etc.) this is a good idea.
I know, not specifically what you asked for...just thought I'd share.
