I just bought a tablet, these are the first two images I have done to get the feel for it. I'm not much of an artist, so I was proud of these. I would like some comments on the shading, but comments on the overall look will be appreciated.

OK, I`m over being stunned, now. and Welcome to the loonie bin.
In the first one, the texture on the bottom is kinda bulrry. Looks like it`s moving , but the ball`s not. On the ball itself, the colors need to blend better. a smoother color transfer is more believeable. The proportions in the shading are about right, just need to smooth the transitions.

Ont he second one, it`s a nice cartoony look. Was that intended ? The grass is short on depth, looks like it`s all pushed up to the foreground( clouds, too).* cat me death cap * ??

Did you draw the toaster, or just add text ? If you drew it, that`s really nice. If not, that`s really easy. And personally, I like a lillte chaos with my toast.

Overall, a good start on the first two. Don`t stop now. Tweak em til you love em. Then show us again.

Thanks for the comments Bob. I worked on smoothing out the shading on the ball, and added some depth to the grass on the mushroom.



I was trying for a cartoon look on the mushroom. It was something fun to do before work. I'm not really sure what to do about the clouds. I added the text at the last minute, so it's really scribbly. It says "Eat Me Death Cap". A death cap is the most poisonous mushroom you can find. Here's a picture of a real one.


About the toaster. No I did not draw the toaster, I just stuck the text on there. The toaster has a story behind it, something about how a single toaster can bring down an anarchist society. I made the toaster really quick just for the hell of it. I came across the image not long ago, laughing like a retard I made it into my signature.

yea, better on the color transitions, but you lost some of the depth. You`re getting there.
As light reflects off a sphere, it gets darker at the edges indicating the part you can`t see as the light reflects away from you. The upper left of the ball looks flat.

Just for the record, I knew what a death cap is, just not why you`d want to cat one.

Clouds are difficult, because of the complexity. Only way I know is go look up at the sky till you see some, then open PS and go at it with the airbrush. ( Or use pics of real ones )
