![]() Im in your same position. I just started a web design co. here in FL, Adept Designs. I am not one with much inspiration or many ideas, so I usually just play around until I find something I like, or just collaborate on several sites I like. I was planning on just starting with some simple business cards and flyers. With just my contact info, the company name, and a simple b/w graphic. Maybe if the company really gets going, then I'll get into something more intricate. *Y*A*W*N* I'm tired. |

![]() Don't try to do realistic effects. It will always come out looking cheesy. A nice, clean, simple, elegant card/identity would be (do it in illustrator) your pheonix design as line art, just black fills and maybe another color. Post up your logo so we can have a look. Once you've got it done get it letterpressed on nice paper. Fabriano or Sennelier. Don't make the logo bleed to the edges of the card, letterpressed this usually doesn't look great. Laserjet sometimes you can pull it off, but I've done and seen awesome letterpressed business cards. Stick with simple color combinations if you use more than one color at all. Red and black letterpressed on white paper is, well, classic and great. |

![]() here's an example I just did in about twenty minutes of the kinda design i'm talking about. if i was actually doing the design the ring would be much cleaner and the type would be hand kerned. but basically i did a rough pencil sketch. inked it real quick with a sharpie. went over it in illustrator and filled it with black and blue. added the type and viola. here's all the files i used except the original sketch. oh yeah if this wasn't an example for web i'd do the entire thing in illustrator, not the text as done in photoshoppe. |

![]() Cool stuff netmosis. Yeah, good clean design is very rarely seen and really underrated IMO. My cards actually a different direction, very photo-based but with a fairly modern/clean approach: |

![]() Fig, nice card. It is nice to see a photo card but only when done right, laser printed on glossy card stock. I've got the means to do really nice laser printed cards, I should try it out. Just gotta get good glossy stock that doesn't come in a 44 inch wide roll. I work for a graphics company so I always get design annuals for free. Definitely a great source of inspiration. |
