Hi, all....I'm new here.

I'm in a trial period of PhotoShop Elements. I can't afford PhotoShop 6 just yet. 3 questions: (1) Is there any reason I'll be unhappy with the Elements version? (2) Do you know of any forum for Elements? If not, will this forum work just as well for me? (3) Do you know for any tutorial sites for Elements, other than Adobe?

Appreciate any help you can offer.

Anyway, I've personally never used Photoshop Elements but if you're using the trial version of it I suppose you would be the best judge as to wether you would be unhappy with the full version. You can also grab a copy of the PS6.0 tryout and see which suits your needs better. As far as forums and tutorials specifically for Elements I'm not sure of. I don't know much about the program or its capabilities. Do regular Photoshop tutorials work with it? If not feel free to post your questions here and we'll try to help out as much as possible.

Thanks! Great site you gave me, Mark. Appreciate the welcome, Jestah. I'm afraid that I don't know enough to evaluate 6.0 yet. I am really new at this. Although I've been using Adobe's Photo Deluxe, I had no real idea of what could be accomplished with these programs until I saw this forum.

I'll try to find my answers in books and Internet searches so that I don't clutter this forum with the mundane. However, I'm going to be a daily lurker here and hope you won't mind a few questions here and there.

Just seeing what you mad scientists are producing for fun has my imagination running with the wind.

here is some older discussion about the subject. Photoshop elements? I personally think it is a great deal. Most tutorials for PS work in PSE pretty good. Unless it is about channels PSE cannot do anything with channels.

Also you cannot directly save youre selections but an extra layer with two colors might help with this.
You might try The gimp this program is free. Although the interface is not that smooth as PS or PSE.
For budgetting you might think off Paint Shop Pro this is a pretty complete package.

Rinswind....Thank you for all the good information and links. I'm leaning toward staying with PSE and eventually graduating to PS. But, I do want to check out Paint Shop Pro as my beginner program. In any case, I'm sure glad I can stay with this board no matter which program I use. You all are a great and creativity inspiring group of artists.
