Hmm... he splits the channels to equalize individually, then merges again.

Can't argue with the end result, but man, that is one messy approach. Can't argue with the superiority of dealing with each channel individually as opposed to the composite channel in curves, but I'd rather not bust the channels up, and I'd certainly rather wwrite a curve insead of losing control to "equalize". It worked on this image, but there are plenty it wouldn't work, particulary something with a real bright color.

Anyhow. Interesting.

Dag nab it! My scanner sucks to bad, I can't get anything close to a decent scan to work with. Turns out way too dark and grainy. I tried it anyways and I got a few images I could *almost* recognize. :sigh:

Looks like I might be pumping money into a negative specific scanner.

What conditions need to be met to allow you to split channels?

Pretty sure the image has to be flat, but I think extra Alpha channels are allowed. Then just click on the little arrow/triangle in the Channel palette and choose Split Channels.
