here is a texture I'm working on. I'm going for a well used, kinda grungy wood floor. I need some suggestions on making the texture come to life more. Big thanks to any replys |

I don't see your image.... maybe it's just my internet connection... or maybe your host site doesn't let you show images... I just thought I better say something before the smartass remarks start about how your texture looks like a big red X... |

I hit yours with curves again.. brought out the hue and darkened the darks. Then randomly attacked it with a small hard brush, lights on top of darks, from the middle values out and sharpening the surface edges with the darkest value. |

excellent post weahah! that opened my eyes a bunch, now I know about adjusting hue/saturation, replacing color, and all that other crap on the image/adjust menu! what did you play with to get it that molded white look? that second texture I posted was my second attempt after reading HS's post, before reading your post weadah. Any other adjustments/tools you would suggest? |

Make nice with the brush tool, and some custom brushes. Also if you work with blending modes (the "normal" "multiply" "overlay" etc. box above your layers palette) you'll find that you can work more plausible variances into your textures. |

Cool...I've got no idea whta you started with now, cause you replaced the image up the top with the finished product. A piece of advice: it makes good sense to save each version in a new file, and post each new file as they come, bewcause that way we can see the progression from crap to craptastic. |
