I'm finally getting some of my Tech-Slop about Displace organized. Foundation pieces. This has become my personal crusade. Rather, my late night hobbie when my girlie keeps me up.

Base 1 and Base 2. (Just got started on Base 3)

Still needs lots of work, but I'm getting there.

I'm not sure what I'm looking for with this post. Approval? Comments? Support? Or is this just plain ego stroking? Maybe I'm just venting. I'm not sure.

Steve N, I've done some over-hauling since the last time I shared this with you.

Good changes WJ. Holds together better, IMO. Valance isn't just floating there, and the 39% not only makes sense, but now ties in the math page. You're flirting with coherent now dude - if you don't mind me saying so!!

Maybe we need some neutral word to take the place of pull/push.
How 'bout "migrate"

My head hurts! I think I'll get some sleep and try reading that again....

ok, sometimes I'm a total ditz.... I've used displace, but not with any knowledge whatsoever, just trial and error.
BUT

WJ, I read your tech-slop and it made so much sense! I'm, like, doing cartwheels over here it's like..... ooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, well, why didn't you hit me over the head like that before...?

Valence -- I've been using this word wrong. Took me a few minutes to figure out why. Same group of students in advanced bio and trig/calc. Being the geeks that we were, we used to mix and match terminology for the sake of humour. Now the joke is on me.

I'll see about clearing this up. I don't need such a gross misuse of a word.

As a total newbie to the displace filter, I found your explanations concise and very informative--I like your writing style. Pics were very helpful, too. Can't wait for the finished product.
