I'm trying to use the Adobe Type Manager 4.1 to group types of fonts into groups, and be able to manage them a little more easily. I'm working with Photoshop 5.5. |

Are you using this on a Mac or PC? On my mac, I view the split screen with the user defined font groups on the left, and on the right are all the installed fonts. You can view either "Active Fonts", "Known Fonts", "System Fonts" (problably what you are viewing) or "Damaged Fonts". I say you are problably viewing the system fonts because that would explain why you only see true type and not all the installed fonts on your system. |

jedart... thanks for the reply. I'm using a PC. I also view the split screen where all the installed fonts are on the right side. On the font groups (on the left), I can bring up "System Fonts"... which show the ttf,s that I have been using. They are in c:\windows\fonts. When I installed the ATM, it brought along with it post script fonts (.pfb and .pfm), which were installed into c:/Psfonts. I have no experience at all with Post Script Fonts. Can I use both ttf and pfb fonts together in the same folder? Could it be that PhotoShop is not pointed toward the psb fonts? |

With atm it doesn't really matter where the fonts are stored as it takes over font management for the entire system, but you do have to tell atm where your fonts are (tt and ps can be together, but as a matter of good habit it's better to keep them seperate). I don't have atm on the machine I'm using now, so I'll try this from memory. To tell atm where your fonts are, or that you have new ones, there should be a suitcase icon in the lower right corner of the window, or go to "add fonts" under the file menu. That will add them to the "known fonts" list, now you can activate (or turn on) the font by double clicking on it. I'll check tomorrow to make sure this works for PC also. |

i thought ATM was a waste of money. i found a program called font xplorer that worked very well. there's a demo for free (check downloads.com) and i don't think the full version is that much, but it works a whole lot better than type manager. |

Hey guys, I really appreciate your help, but I've just about given up on trying to use this program. |
