i'm trying to make a marble background. my problem is that i keep seeing the top and bottom seams.

i have used the difference cloud filter to create the marble effect.

i have used the offset filter in an attempt to get rid of the seams (i.e. north/south and east/west).

however, i still get seams no matter what.

#1. is there any other tutorial online? i have tried http://www.planetunreal.com/TextureUniverse/ and http://webreference.com/graphics/column21/8.html to no avail.

#2. any tips i overlooked?

#3. are there any other filters that will generate a marble background that i may purchase?

#4. are there other graphics program that will generate marble background more easily?

any help is deeply appreciated.

Yeah, welcome hoyas! Listen to Docilbob, he knows. As to filters...many here will frown on it, but yeah, Eyecandy has a marble filter. Better, though, if you do it by hand. Would be nice if we could see what you've got so far...you've got to remember that if you are going to be doing backgrounds, you're going to have to use your 'copy' tool, to 'even' out the rough areas, especially where it's supposed to be seamless. The tut by Doc O in Docilbob's post is a good place to start. Also the Gurusnetwork has some really good tuts, and so does Phong.
