hey, I know this is probably easy, but I've never been to good with shapes/lighting and I was wondering how to make a Halo like go around text.. the text is Angelic Designs and I was gonna try to put the halo around the top of the A in Angelic... or kinda around both the n and s in Designs... whichever seemed to look better once I got it to work. If that makes sense.. then any input is appreciated. I can upload a picture of the text if you want me to, just say so.
Thanks

If this is what you mean, then I can help...

I used a Radial Gradient tool, set to go from Transparent to Foreground and back to Transparent. That gave me a white circle (in this case) that faded into transparency. Then I used Transform>Distort to give my new halo that jaunty angle. Lastly, I selected the 'A' while on the halo layer and used it to delete part of the halo, to make it look as though it goes around the 'A'.

If that isn't what you wanted, please let us know. Someone here can help, I guarantee.

[edit]Wang beat me to it. Great looking Halo you've got there.[/edit]

I think I can handle this one.

  1. On layer1 make a large circle.
  2. Copy layer1
  3. Fill layer1 Copy with white
  4. Ctrl+A to select the entire image
  5. Layer>Align to Selection>Horz Center then Vert Center. Do this to both Layer1 and Layer1 Copy
  6. On layer1 copy image>transform>scale. Make this layer skinner and a little shorter than Layer1.
  7. Merge layer1 and Layer1 Copy name it Halo
  8. Make some type
  9. Drag Halo above the type
  10. Ctrl+click the type layer
  11. Layer>Add Layer Mask>Reveal All
  12. Using the Marquee tool hold down ALT and remove all of the selection around the text you wish the halo to cover. Only have selected what you want the halo to be behind.

  13. Fill selection with black

Hope this works out for you.
