Hello, I guess this is a very basic question (!) If I have a table with a background color on a web page, how do I make the upper left and right corners of this table rounded?

thanks in advance!

This forum is great.

That is an illusion by placing graphics into the table.
It is not an property of the table itself, but an image colored to appear as if it is a property of the table.
Get it??

I noticed that you've been posting a lot of questions in a fairly short amount of time. It seems to me (call it intuition...) that maybe you are working on a project. A new web site, maybe?

With that in mind, let's see what you've got.
Post a URL now, or when you're finished.
I, for one, want to see what you've been working so hard on.

Good day

go to photoshop and make a new document, 40x40, grab the eliptical marquee and set it to a fixed size of 40x40 then slap that 40x40 circle into your new doc, then fill it with the body content background, in this case, white. Make a new layer, put it *under* the circle and fill it with the background color, in this case, black. Drag out a couble of guides to split the canvas into 4 quadrants and use the marquee selection tool to select the quadrants one by one. When you have a rounded corner selected, push ctrl+shift+c (copy merged) and then ctrl+n (new document) then ctrl+v (paste). Do that for all 4 corners, name them whatever and reference them in the html table, like so...

Yes petskull....you're missing a great deal.

But that's a seperate issue.

pshopuser - listen to JK - his method is pretty straightforward and basic, and will also help start teaching some good basic knowledge.

Also listen to mobrul - let's see what you're working on

I checked out the 'rounded' table you made too, and I'm glad I did. I knew how to do the corners, but I absolutely hadn't thought about adding the td's with the black backgrounds around the edges to make sure it went on smoothly. Thanks for posting that!

Hi all, thanks for the tip.

Well, I am pretty much a novice with both web design and graphics so honestly I don't want to reveal the site I worked on until it looks decent by even my standards (which are pretty low )

You guys are great!
