Hey hey,

OK...I can work miracles with lots of patience and the clone tool, but I've got quite a few family photos that go beyond reason when it comes to cloning-out dirt. I know there are methods of cleaning up dirt beyond cloning and "dust and scratches," but does anyone know of any of the "best" or "hidden" techniques?

Here's a slightly higher res photo

I've had a field-day scanning. Most of my family photos are from the turn-of-the-century, and you can actually scan the old 4x5 prints at 1200 dpi and make portraits out of what used to be invisible. The higher resolution image I've linked to is about an inch square on the original print.

There was just recently a whole lengthy thread on restoration techniques. I just looked on the 2nd page here but couldn't see it... but I'm *sure* somebody will come along and point you to it. It was a great thread full of solid info.
Hang in there I'm sure it will surface.

And for those of you with a better memory... I'm referring to the old image of a young woman... (somebody's Aunt maybe?) needed a fair amount of work as I recall.
