What are scratch disks and what are they used for?

well, Scratch Disks is a term used by photoshop.
It uses them to handle the large amount of data that is associated with big Images.
They should be set on the fastest harddrive possible. That drive should not store
the windows swap file, which is used for a similar purpose by windows.
The reason PS has it's own is that that way it can optimize a whole lot more.

Thanks... I allowed PS to make them on all partitions except the system one, where i have my hibernate and my swap file...but i can't see any files there...I guess he just didn't needed them yet?

You get those on laptops. it's what you get when you hibernate the laptop to save power, it saves the state of your entire computer, all programs that are running, absolutley everything, to a file.
