Hey all! Maybe a weird question but I was wondering if anyone knew how to completely change one color for another (example, black for white) when the color isn't all in one place(thus just the painbucket will not work)? Lately I've been scanning in a few things which I want the background of to be completely white but the text keeps the other color and makes it harder to read. Any idea what I'm talking about? (this is for something scanned in, as you may have surmised)

Thanks!

Adjustment Layer > HSB.
The little colour picker thingy does wonders for isolating specific colour ranges. Then, down at the bottom, you can fine-tune the range.

Image>adjust>selective color would be my first choice.

Hmmm... funny how so many routes achieve the desired effect.

I'd go Image >Adjustments >Replace colour

or, select a spot of said color, rightclick on the selection, choose similar and then do edit/fill...

Or, you can go Image>>Adjust>>Channel Mixer
Or, if it`s really close to the color you want, sometimes Image>>Adjust>>Variations can be just the thing

Doesn't the Curves tut by Steve over at the GN describe a way to do this with Curves? At least, I use this way a lot...make copy, and Curve away on the copy...with those color 'pickers', one can do just about anything in Curves...

*shrug*

Lately I was over at http://www.christianfletcher.com, and I took the pic of the Sword of the Ranger in it's scabbard, brought it into photoshop, selected all the "green" areas of the image, and desaturated them. I didn't deselect, I made a new layer, and filled it with the color of my choice, and set it's blend property to "Color". Rather handy. I'm thinking about going with a rich, almost royalty-inspiring red, or a greyish-blue (to fit a Gandalf-ish theme).

Yeah, I want to own one of those swords mighty badly. Less than 50 available though.

It could always be more fantastic...
