Is anti-aliasing turned on for the selection tool?

Sounds like you're trying to edit a .gif without first switching to RGB mode.

Sounds like you're either in index color or just zoomed in too far and didn't realize it.

Gonna tell us HOW you "got around it"?

Wow DOJ, that was both pointless and uninformative. Hope you weren't expecting any help with that.

Sorry, I was trying to find an answer to my jaggies question without starting another thread. Just thought it would be easier, lol. Sorry

That's all well and good, if you'd say.. ASKED a question.. or specified the PROBLEM...

"while making (...) I often get jaggies if I try to (...) or (...). I tried to fix it by (...), but that didn't work. does anyone else have that problem? any suggestions on how to fix it?"

Something like that would be easier to help with.

RTFM1: check if the tool you're using has any antialiasing options turned on
RTFM2: check if you're working in RGB mode, not in indexed color (click [image>mode>rgb])

Jace - that wasn't an opinion or an insight, it was a "me too" statement. Granted, my reply might have sounded a bit harsh, but I qualified it later by tring to point out what would be a more helpful posting. Mahjqa just had a clearer way of making that point (props mahjqa). If you're refering instead to my response to the original posting, I was simply asking for the resolution to the problem or what the problem was. Generally it's considered appropriate or at least polite to explain what resolution you've come to when people have spent time trying to help solve that problem.

jaggies be gone.......

understanding the problem

note: yes its a tut about transparency... now use your brains and extrapolate.... think pixels/think raster

meet the enemy..... create jaggies and you have to deal with them, the secret is not to create them in the first place!
