I have recently bought a tablet which i let you know about in this thread

When someone told me it was gonna take some getting used to, they were right...

I'm having serious teething problems.

I am using this tutorial to practice my technique.

Here's what i've come up with so far:

Bear in mind this is the first time i've used my tablet and only about the third time i've used the airbrush tool. I'm not looking for crits because i know there is SO much wrong with it, i am mearly showing you my progress. If you feel there is something you can add to help me, feel free to comment.

Mmm... not looking for crits...
hrmph... well,
good start... and good luck with the new piece of hardware.
my piece of advice.... take crits from people.

People will always point out shit that you just haven't spent time workin' on during the showing of a work in progress.
A fantastic artist and friend I used to know always said... "it's all in the doin'."
And it's the truth.
Grit yer teeth... smile... and say thanks when people point it out.

But someone else lookin' things over and giving you a critique is good.
It will help point out flaws in your methods... and it will most certainly help point out the areas of you're work that you're strong with ,and that will truely benefit you as you progress with painting in general.

Once again.
Good start.
And don't lose your motivation.
I think many of the painters around here, including myself, have fallen prey to a lathargic monster.

Cheers for sharing.... I love watching progression.

OK, i'll take your advice and take crits from people. The reason i didn't ask for them i because most of the mistakes i have made on this are something i would not normally do with a mouse. Its just the fact that i'm using my new tablet.

Anyway, got any crits for me Michael?

=D

I realize you're following a tutorial, so most comments would probably undermine that which it says....

My only real crit is not to use such soft brushes.
Of course... that all depends on what sort of style you want the outcome to be.

keep at it. =)

Well, i've got to go and see my girlfriend tonight. I haven't seen her since my new purchase.

I'll probably get to work on it tommorow though. Thanks for the soft brushes tip.

Well, as long as she doesn't make me choose between her and the tablet

I think you're really heading in the right direction with your work on the bushes in the back of the rocks. If you just apply this to the rest of the image it should start to shape up nicely.

I'm looking forward to seeing further iterations of this.
