mmmmm, that's a weird one to define. 1920's, 30's French 'modern' design. It was kinda how the people in the 20's and 30's defined the design of the future. |

Several different styles actually. My favorite style of "art deco" is defined by "geometric and grandiose". Think Tim Burton's Batman, or Batman the Animated Series. Giant angular sculpture, gold, bronze, marble, and glass structures in strong geometric designs. Simple geometric shapes used to make overlapping and complex designs. In America in the 20's, people thought they owned the world, then in the 30's it was all whipped out from under them. So you see reflected in the artwork of deco the strong flamboyant vigor of the 20's and and humbled simplicity of the 30's. Reguardless of it being extreme highs or extreme lows, everything about deco is BOLD. |

Interestingly enough, they've recently done a major restoration and remastering of Metropolis and will soon be re-releasing it on VHS and DVD. You can check it out here. |
