Yeah, you heard me...Squirrels. Robo-squirrels, fluffy squirrels, killer squirrels... Any friggin' squirrel you can think of. It's time to put the perfected still lifes away and start working the psycho-mojo. Get brainfecked and gimme your squirrels!


And now...the bullshit rules that you should all feel free to bend and break


1. You have approximately 30 minutes (try to limit differences by 1000 mins, give or take) to do a sketch/painting/model, digital or traditional of the supplied topic.
2. Time dedicated to scanning, uploading, saving, etc, is NOT counted towards the time it takes you to do your entry. Just the time you spent creating it.
3. You can submit as many entries as you want.
4. Much like the monthly sig competitions, the previous chooser decides the next topic and the next chooser of said topic.
5. Speed painting topics will last for approximately a week.
6. Have fun!

Great topic .. I've never drawn a squirrel before. i did it in a little over the half hour, and was done at 1:1 as you see it.

Squirrels are awesome - an excellent opportunity to work on an incredibly flexible and strong anatomy. Hope I get the time for this one =)

I've done it myself, and quite badly I might add. There is nothing redeeming about this art deco travesty.

Something comes along that I like, and this really sucks. I've got around 4 square inches to move this crappy ball mouse around, and it's at an odd angle on this desk. Few more weeks and I might be able to paint with Woman's set up. I think I'm gonna get a hunk of wood or something for my lap and keep my comfy optical mouse handy.

How's this for grungy? If this wasn't funny in a pathetic kind of way, I would almost be embarrassed.

I used my sisters hamster as a ref...Which is why it looks like a hampster, but aww well...

I would say more contrast, more shadow side. Cute though

Warmage - skip the dodge and burn, it gets you nowhere. Check the FAQ for painting...

And try moving from one color to another with the shading. Look for shades around the green, that go together logically, but that is slightly-drastically different.

That`s better, Mage, but ..ummmm..Still doesn`t look much like a squirrel.

It is a squirrel, in my mind at least. When I think of a squirrel I think of them eating acorns. So it is a squirrel.

I had actually thought it was a Squirrel Cap.

And with that, we're closed. Not as big a turnout as I wanted, but the sacrifice in quantity was made up entirely in quality. Some really nice work guys, and people coming in fresh. Love it.

Now, for the next Moderator, I'm picking WarMage, due to his leap into the paint scheme.
