All right kids, Randis Albion has created and displayed a STUNNING portraiture tutorial for those interested. He goes over his methods and colour choices step by step so as not to lose anyone.

Downloading the PSD might be out of the question, as the bandwidth has been used up a couple times now, BUT the tutorial itself is more than enough.

Open your PS (Painter, whatever you choose) and click this link:
Randis Albion's Character Portrait Tutorial!!!

Anyone looking for a leg up with their portraiture, and general painting skills will get a huge boost here.

Then drop the guy respect and props for going out of his way to share.

Get on it!

Yeah, saw that one the other day and it's beautiful stuff. Very helpful. Especially the way he draws in the lighting temporarily. I've been having trouble with that so it was cool to see more options. Good link

Edit - Forgot to add... I'll give it a whirl tonight, see how it goes. I'll post the result here.

Well... that was sort of unsuccessful for me, and I didn't finish. I was ok blocking in the colours but smudging them like he suggests was not good for me. I don't paint that way so it was an uncomfortable way of working. I ended up blocking the colours back in in chunks and then lowering the opacity to get a smoother transition. What did work was painting in a light source on a new layer. I might be off a bit still but it was easier for me for shading and deciding where the light tones would go with that big ugly red thing hanging over the pic.

Might have a go at finishing tomorrow. An interesting lesson.

Wow !!

Simply beautiful work and it seems to be in a format that is straight forward to follow, no baffling bullshit....

I cant wait to at least experiment with those techniques..

Thanks for the link

Oooohhh! Nice! I'll have to try it...I saw it a while ago, but could never figure out where the damn tutorial was, then, when you posted it, I realized that I could just scroll down to get it. Stupid ME!

Cool, though!
