NO, whatever you do never get any comic art, it wont teach you shit! trust me I have been throu this!

books are always good, Hogarth stuff is great...but if someone really wants to learn human figure good...books wont teach you good or fast enough....I suggest you take classes on human figure, drawing nudes in diffrent perspective and possitions helps alot!
thats the best way to learn how to capture the shape fast, second most inportant thing is to learn light and shadow technique like DL uses on his sketches, its very important cause thats the only way you can add volume to your figure ....comics are flat wont teach you shit, never draw comics for learning....always study fine arts, the comics gonna be childs play soon enough for you

another with a photo ref from the above posted source -

.

insider - do not underestimate the necessity of reference, especially in regard to anatomy (and not just human anatomy) any type of animal or creature you draw needs to have a plausible anatomy. The arm you posted has what I've been fond of calling 'fish fillet syndrom'. Basically it looks like someone has draped a large fillet on top of the mans arm and hidden the detail of the actual muscle Now, I've seen far worse, and by people who have no excuse to make such errors, so don't take this as an insult.

It's simply an area that needs some real work.

(also don't forget that when you need reference for hands, you have two of them your self )

Ruski - I just went and set one up to test it out with no problems.

You have to make sure that you continue clicking on the "free" package on the pages where you have to choose - it's that simple.

Took about 2 minutes...
