if that doesn't show http://www.netmosis.com/imags/preview.jpg

this is almost final pic for my new site index interface. i plan to add dripping rust/slime maybe a vent or something to the background. the center black screen will have text, the smaller screens will have interactive flash buttons.

anyone have suggestions on how to get rust coming off the main part of the interface onto the background?

any suggestions overall?

now all you need is bitches with big titties and even bigger guns.

no really, it's a little busy for my taste. it's kinda ugly, not really well defined where objects start and end, it's just kind of a big mess.

i don't think adding dripping rust/slime is going to help things either.

I have to agree with mikey. It's just too busy. There's some nice detailing techniques throughout the image, but it's just not aesthetically pleasing.

I really like the red and white stickers... can you give them a torn or peeled effect???

Yeah it is too busy... What are the holes for? Maybe if you take out anything red/brown/rust and darken that white stripe... don't know about the construction bit at the bottom... that might be good left in or taken out since it's prolly there for a reason..

To much shine on that beveling.

Agreed, way to shiny, and not beat up enough. Looks like liquid plastic rust..

I think that the colors toward the center of the interface are way to dark. It's hard to make out the different small areas in the picture. Maybe brighten it up a little. But I also agree that it is too busy.

I agree with the others that it is too busy, but I'd like to expand on that a bit to maybe give you some direction. The reason it feels so busy is not simply because there's a lot going on, but mostly because there is no focus. My eye doesn't know where to look. (Both eyes, actually, but they move together most of the time...) My focus keep jumping to different areas of the page, not knowing where it should land. Eventually, my mind gets tired and gives up.

You've got some good techniques going there with texture and such, but you need to turn your attention to composition. Use lines and highlights to lead my eye where you want it to go. (Again, I mean both of them...I don't wear a patch or anything.) Drop the unimportant details into the background. Decide what's the most important area and make it jump out. From there, guide my eye (eyes!) to the next important part, then the next.

Arrr....

Personally I think the whole damaged metal/industrial theme is WAY over used on the 'net....but why does the damage suddenly stop 3/4ths of the way across the yellow/black thing?

Welcome to the Asylum both of the new guys in here ...

Anyway with the image. I dont understand what those black boxes are. They dont seem the fit the image. I would also lose that whole netmosis blob of liqued rust and rocky badness. Like Sloloem says that constraction tap like thing suddenly without warning gets clean. Now looking at it the blue above it gets clean too. Is it not as dirty over there?

Personally I think you should drop this idea. I was looking at your old layout and besides the fact that those flash movies never seem to end its alright ...
