i have almost finished my website and want to present it to the public.
now my question is, does anybody has problems in viewing my pages?
i had only 4weeks to finish it and had no time to test it on mac browsers.
my target browsers are:
1. NS4, IE4,IE5
2. NS6
3. NS3
4. Opera 4
5. Others.
so, are there any severe problems in viewing the pages.
i thank you all for your comments and help.

Some pages are in the wrong language.
'Rooms' is in German when English is selected.
'News' is in German no matter what language is selected.
IE5: Clicking on the music gem generates an error (and doesn't turn off the music).
NS4: No problems.
NS3: No problems.
Edit: Clarification, all these tests were on Win2k.

On Mac OS 9 IE 5.0 the music button did NOT generate an error, but it also didn't turn off the music.
The rollover popups display a black box with a gray box underneath and text underneath that. Not layered as I assume they are supposed to be.

just one comment... ALWAYS give your images height and width attributes! it reserves the space on your page while its waiting to download so that your text doesnt have to render a second time once the image has finished loading.

thank you all for your comments.
the english version of 'rooms' isn't online yet, the 'news' pages aswell.
i have no idea why there is an error message with some ie5, on the machines where i have access there is no error. if i can't find a solution, i'll probably remove the background music from the first startpage.
ie5 on mac and ie5 on don't handle layers the same way?
document.all["infowindow"].innerHTML = infomessag;
well, i have no more time to check this out. :-(
oh yes, the image attributes, there is much work to get the image sizes of all the images... but i'll look for the nasty error message with ie5 first
btw: am i doing something wrong with the <embed>-thing ? or with the rollover popups? has somebody an idea?

i've read some other site reviews here and didn't understand the reaction of some thread poster.
feel free to put your opinion here, i won't be offendend. yes i want here your opinions so i can make my sites better next time. :-)
i'll try to adapt your suggestions as far as i can and as far as i agree.
and i'll keep them in mind for the next version too.
what is important for my sites (priorities depends on target):
1. i don't want to discriminate browsers as far as i can.
2. graphic design(i'm beginner in graphics i even don't use PS) and layout.
3. userinterface.
4. take the most advantaged features of the most common browsers.
forgot something?

Suprise! Hehehe.
Well, in Opera 4.01, I didn't even know that the flags are links until I checked it in MSIE. The pointer doesn't change and the pop-ups don't pop-up. Oddly, they still act as links when clicked even though there is *no* indication that they are links. Once I got to the English version, none of the roll-overs rolled-over. As a matter of fact, they don't even act like links at all. The only two that work in any sense are the home and about links (the circular graphic at the bottom of the nav).
Music? What music? I didn't get any music at all in Opera or MSIE 5.0.

how about just removing the music totally - I found it so annoying and somewhat unprofessional when sites have background music (except for some flash sites that can justify the music being used). But then again, that's just my opinion.

Yes, music is never really appreciated. I *have* music playing, it's good music, and what I prefer to listen to. For designing a page for commercial use, it just looks cheesy. Ah well, maybe the clients really dig it, hmm?
I have a clue on the DHTML layer handling on IE for the mac. I ran into this once before, on most browsers the layers are no bigger than they need to be, but in IE5/mac they are as big as they can be unless you specify the size explicitly! Set width: and height: both are needed.
Hmm, the onClick versions of the buttons just weren't there at all, just an indentation where the button used to be? Those links should be higlighted when clicked, not minimized. Best for intuitive navigation IMHO.

thanks for the tips doc,
especially the one for mac. the seepark hotel is my first page with dhtml and my second with css, so i'm glad to make pages that are more compatible to other system than pc .
i provided width and hidth in the css, i hope it is better now with ie on mac. maybe i have to buy an old mac just to install ie for testing purpose only...
i would never put music in a startpage (and not with autostart)
when music is to be played, then with the option to stop it.
well i'm beginner in graphics and i'm supposed to improve :-) by time. but cheese is associated with swiss, then it suit to a swiss hotel. ;-)
i have no clue where they(the onclick versions of buttons) are. there should be three versions for normal, mouseover and clicked state. the onclick version aren't handled differently.
to warjournal: i have fixed the problem with opera, there are still other things to adapt for opera. :-(

finish:
well, the update is now active.
at: http://www.hotel-seepark.ch/
1. opera 4 still does not react the same as ns and ie browsers but thats not severe.
2. music can't be stopped with ie 4 on macs
3. music definitely can't be removed from the startpage.
with some practice, i hope to solve the remaining problems too.
thanks, to all
