Could you please critique the following site?

Note: The broken links and broken images are their fault, not mine. I just did the layout.

It makes me think of apples.

There's a discrepency on the left side of the main text area. The thin, vertical, green tube is offset by about two pixels and it looks funny. It's also off by the same amount on the right side in a few of the other pages... but I do like the design. Now I must go eat apples.

Nice design! It just has a few jaggies on the keys as well as the offset that Human Shield mentioned. Other than that, I like it <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/smile.gif">

apples?.. it makes me think of toothpaste (but I always have been odd)...

I too can see the out of alignment in NS 4.51
could be a html thing... but I do like the keyboard m/overs... would be cool if they played a note too! (maybe not!!!)

nice work

Thanks for all the advice...

The jaggies, I will get rid of...

As for the mis-aligned bars, that's the freaky thing... If you sit there on a page, and scroll down then back up, it sometimes aligns everything right (At least in IE 5.5), or sometimes if you reload the page, it aligns everything correctly... Just clicking on the links seems to fix it up, too...

I am lost... Maybe I shouldn't rely on GoLive after all...

Thanks...
Robin

That daggum photo of Katiah could be *much* clearer. I don't think you would sacrifice too much space if you upped the quality, it looks like a screenshot from a bad mpg movie. Other than that and the misaligned table, you're set. The keyboard mouseovers are classic, can't believe I've never seen that before.

Simple, clean, to the point. Not much to critique design wise. The one thing that jumps out at me is that there is no cellpadding. 5 pixels should be plenty.

There are several minor graphic details that could be tweaked:

The already mentioned keyboard jaggies (especially noticeable on the black keys)

The corner graphics for the table only really match up in the upper left corner. Did u just make one corner and then rotate it? The best way to do it is to make a very short rectangle so that the bar only has 1 pixel between the corners. That way it lines up on all sides.

The rollovers are nice except for the fact that the drop shadows move too. To look more real make the drop shadow a seperate layer and only have the key move for the rollovers. Maybe even darken the drop shadow a bit when the key is pressed.

Hmm, that's all I see for now...

Okay... Here's the deal. The bars not lining up is a browser issue, as far as I can tell...

Anybuddy know what I should do to fix it? It shows up however it wants to show up... Sometimes the bars line up to the corners, sometimes they are off... If you scroll down and back up, it will fix the display of the bars... Or, if you reload, it will either fix the display the bars correctly, or maybe even make them off in some other direction... This is the strangest thing I have seen...

I like the design. Just fix what's allready mentioned, and it will be fine. Love the glassy interface.

But I wonder; would it look better with a darker background? (I don't mean the text area.)

OUCH! I just looked at your source code....the alignment issues are far more than a browser problem. Table alignments are finicky perhaps, but a failed table alignment is always fixable if you know the code.

The complexity of the table(s) is just about absurd quite frankly -- there's no reason for at least half of the code to be there. If I had several hours with nothing to do I might try to disect it and find the problem, but you'd be better off scrapping it and starting over. If you need help with tables, check out bitdamaged's table tute at: http://www.gurusnetwork.com/tutorials/html/tablestute_L1.html

The layout for your site is rather simple, and you've got enough code to drive a person insane.....the graphics are good, but I'd suggest doing some serious work on the code.

to answer one of your earlier questions: no, you should not rely on golive! learn HTML, you'll be happier and have less headaches!
