heh heh heh... thsi is why there needs to be a transparency tut.
for a start, it helps to say what program you are using.
but nonetheless, the issue is your matte color.
if you have lines around the text, it is because it is fading into the matte color whenever the transparency is not zero.
that is, if you have a pixel of blue, 50% opacity, well, GIF doesnt support partial transparency, si it says "OK hotshot, 50% of blue, and 50% of WHAT?" your matte color is the WHAT.
so, for the asylum, we tend to choose a color that is halfway between the browns, say 40, 4, 4. that way, there will still be lines around the text, but they will be the *same* color as the asylum!
quick tip: for a fast background change from black, have two layers, oen the image, 2 the background you want.
set the top layer to screen. (blending mode, that is!)

I'm using photoshop 5.0

When you use the gif98 to export it, how do you set up the matte color?

Right now, I have it in PSD form with four layers: 2 text layers, an adjustment layer, and a black background layer.

Whenever I try, I get a gray box around the silence part.

hey, I kinda got it.

I was using 40, 4, 4 for my background layer. In photoshop that's 64, 4, 4, cuz of hex.

Heheh. Stupid me.

Thanks for tha' help.

Here's the new version...
