Preserved Topic: Re-doing personal site....check it out (Page 1 of 1)

Hey guys, i posted a while back asking for criticism about my first site, most people said it was ok for a first try but i should get away from using commercial graphics, well i took there advice. i made my own.

so do me a favour, check out what i got so far, its only this page that has been re-done so far, the rest will soon follow...

I didn't see your first effort, but if the MainPage link on your other pages is an indication, I think you made a significant improvement. Especially, if you created the interface graphic yourself.

Are you planning to keep the gold trim as it is?

Overall, good improvement. Keep it up.

I did all the graphics myself with my trusty photoshop. as for the gold trim? its not really gold, more of a corrosive yellow. i plan on keeping it, Why, what do u think?

wow.. that is a drastic improvement El G.. so far I like what I have seen. The layout and graphics themselves are not bad at all. It is good to see your own graphics .. pretty cool...

As this is a personall web page it is hard to criticize the style of graphics. I personally am not too keen on the metal screw thing, but that is only my opinion, so I shouldnt worry over that. Dont forget its your website and you should run with your own style and themes. Practice makes perfect, and if this is only your second attempt it really is quite good. I remember my first effort.. lol.. unfortunaletly! heh

The only thing I would say as a negative would be DL time... some of your images are overly large and could be optimised for file size somewhat which would improve DL time.. your green bg image at 84kb is a bit of a killer! Also your host is taking up a bit of time with all there junk also, so again in time you will ease of in file size and optimise more...

hey vogonpoet, i downsized a few of the bigger graphics, i really hate sacraficing quality.....i had a friend open look at my site, he has Vibe, thats my city's name for DSL, he said it took about 10seconds, so im happy...

i also got rid of the screws...well if u wanna see what i changed go look
