Pretty cool. One thing I don't like, though, is the blood (I am assuming it is blood) with the wind filter applied. It just doesn't fit, IMO.

Good work =)

very interesting netmosis..... i like it.

off the wall note: When I viewed the pic.... I had scrolled all the way down first before I had looked. It was in a small window and the whole thing couldn't be viewed...... as I scrolled up.... it reminded me of Christ's crucifiction.

Anyway.... one thing I noticed is that the barbed wire.... doesn't "barb" right before it gets to the handle..(looking from the bottom up)... it looks like it should.
The big heart towards the bottom might feel a little better if it were thinner. Not the lines for it.... the actual heart.
I like that "blood" effect... I like that a lot
I thought the heart in the center of the handle was a bit out of place.
The blade seems to have some 3D qualities.... but the metal on the handle does not.... makes it look kinda wierd.
Nice wooden portion of the handle as well.

Thanks for the feedback:

Yeah i know abou the barbed wire, it's supposed to be doubled...

and the hilt, i tried so many techniques on that yet that's the best i could get...they all looked to plasticy and eye candied before....when i first started i created a ICC profile that darkened the whole thing up a lot and it was a lot more contrasty...i only applied this for the print version though...so that heart in the center of the handle looks more like satin on the print, kinda a soft, fuzzy, yet sleek feel...i like the blood...i think it kinda looks like it is sorta drying on the paper, sorta unifying the background and the knife. When i look back on it the paper has a slight feel of human skin, the only thing is the edge which is kinda smooth for torn paper but to rough for cut...i printed at 16 inches tall by 10 inches wide on an epson 9000pro, fabriano art paper...

taxon hit the crucifixion layout...i did the sketch based on a modernized crucifixion drawing that i'll probably digitally color eventually...of course there's no reference to christ but the barbed wire (crown of thorns) sorta lends to the outstreched arms and the aysymmetrical hilt gives me the feel of christ's head tilting to one side...

i'm proud of it (much more of the print, than the digital image)...i guess this my first real attempt on a digital coloring based off of a sketch without including the sketch...

i've got another valentine's day illustration in the works as well...

Bloody the blade.
Try using wave on your blood, just a little so it's not so straight.

Me likeee!

I've just got one petite suggestion.

Have another go at the point where the handle connects to the blade.

Since the line dividing these two parts of the picture is completely straight, they do not seem to connect properly. I get the feeling that the blade is placed in front of the handle.

Also in the top of the handle were the metal and handle connects there's something a bit fishy with the lighting. I guess I want the metal to cast more shadow onto the very top of the handle, because now it seems a bit as if the handle is in front of the metal.

This is a bit on the picky side, but I bet you can improve that part.

Other than that: Top work, man!

<e> I do not agree with sloloem. Do not put blood on the blade. It would turn a good pic into a tacky heavy-metal logo. My 0.2</e>

slo: have to go with nimraw on the blood on the blade, i considered it tried a little and did look a little overblooded...otherwise thanks for the feedback...i'll try a little wave filter and see how it turns out...

nim:
very good point about connecting the handle, i'll work on that...maybe by simply darkening the handle and casting some kinda shadow that would solve it...
