Howdy all!

Did a site as a favor to a friend lately. Pay a visit at http://www.freecfm.com/l/lacrosse/. Figured I needed to practice and I needed some more work for my portfolio.

Page design is simple, but I was banging my head on the keyboard over and over as I tried to come up with a way that the site would look fine in both IE and Netscape. Man, that was hard, but I finally did it.

Please suggest a good color to use for background; I want to take that next step towards being a "better designer" by getting away from the white backgrounds every now and then.

Later, when I have more time, I plan on making mouseovers for the links on the home page. I will also be adding some photos of players throughout the site to break up the text ... just waiting for my "client" to send me some more stuff.

On the inside pages I have little tabs as links to the various pages within each section. I originally wanted to make the current page's tab a different color, but that looked like way too much work for a freebie site! Only way I know to do it is to chop the nav bar into individual graphics and have two colors made for each. Ugh! Is there an easier, less time-consuming way to get the effect I'm after?

Thanks in advance for your comments.

I think you should be happy with the work you have done, and so should your friend/client. The interface on the index page looks good and works wonderfully. I would keep the white background, or maybe make it a cream color to make the site "warmer".

I'm not a fan of Times New Roman (if thats what it is), but would suggest verdana of helvetica. Is simply looks cleaner on small text.

I'd say GOOD JOB, especially since you have done ot for free.

Thanks for the kind words! Really bouyed my spirits when I read them; I haven't been feeling very positive lately.

If you are referring to the body text as being Times Roman, then yes, I just left it up to the browser default. I'll change a page to another font to see how it looks.
