Preserved Topic: a start (Page 1 of 1)

I've been working on this project for work......I still have quite a bit of fine tuning to do (as well as some major things).......it requires flash 5, but I think for the most part it's headed in the right direction. Well gentlemen and ladies.........this is my first post.......I'm curious what everyone thinks.

My first impression was something like this: "What the heck did you shrink my browser window for? That's *my* window, leave it alone! Now when i close it IE is going to remember that size for my future windows. It's bad enough that you had to open a new window without messing up the one I already had."

OK, once I got over that... I like the flash intro thing, with all the breaking blocks, but it seems like the rectangle containing the flash is very separate from the borders around the whole page. There should be some sort of way to blend the edge of the presentation into that border, like maybe a gradient blend, or a one or two pixel border, or an inset, or soemthing, just so the flash doesn't seem so separate from the edge.

Some sort of mouseovers with the spinning boxes would be cool, like a change in color or a change in spinning speed.

The bright green text on a bright blue background is a bit strong. That could be made better. Some of the links didn't really respond the first time I clicked on them, maybe that was just my bad clicking skills... but anyway, come back when you've got more of the site up, so there's more to navigate, ok?

Ditto, slime. I hate those little fixed size windows that popup and I have to close. Screws up my browser something horrible.

Anyway, as far as the site itself. I also like the exploding blocks thing. The border, however, is a bit busy and draws the eye away from the main stuff in the center. I also noticed that I had to double-click a link to open it and that's not a good thing to people used to single clicking.

Other than that, it's really nice. I usually hate flash pages but you've used in a manner that is logical and intuitive to browse. Well, except for the broken links and such but I'm sure that will be fixed. Also,

yea....sorry about the resize on the one window.......but the flash page itself will be coming off another site, plus I needed the sizing control to spec the new window. Like I said I still have quite a ways to go with it, but I really appreciate the input....
