A really good program to check out is Blender http://www.blender.nl/index_community.php . It's totally awesome and completely free. It has it's own game engine, and animation features. I have only been using it for about a month and a half now but here are a couple examples of what I've done with it:

http://www.swangraphix.com/kwoon_front.html (my first design with Blender)
http://www.swangraphix.com/kwoon_closet.html (another angle of the same room)
http://www.swangraphix.com/hakkoryu.html
http://www.swangraphix.com/steel_wall.html (this one looks a little blurry because for some reason I couldn't get a good .jpg compression on it without it being really huge, but the original is very crisp.)

Anyway, there are a lot of really awesome examples of work done in Blender, on thier site. So that is my recommendation, you can also find a lot of really good tutorials for it.

Anybody that's interested can find it here: http://www.blender.nl/index_community.php

Sorry, this was supposed to be in the "Which 3D program" topic. I accidentally hit post new topic instead of of post reply. My fault.

the program may be good as well as the renderer and its power and possibilities.

BUT: the usability is uahhhhhhhhhhh, wuääääh. thats why i've uninstalled it immediately.

I thought the usability was very easy, but everybody has their own tastes. Sometimes when your used to a particular layout it's hard to get used to another one. Thanks for the tip on deleting a thread, next time this happens I definately will.
