Look at the new/improved model at:
oven . Here's another model I saw in 3DCafe site. This time I rendered with Bryce 4, MetaCreations version. I also did the bckg with PS, so you can compare. Of course I did web optimizing as well. See what you have to say.

Hmm, I have no major comments about this particular design, but I'm just going to comment on your models in general. It seems to me that you have a reasonably good ability to get shapes in the general positions you want them in, and probably have the ability to visualize 3D shapes and coordinates fairly well. What you need to work on at this point, I think, is detail. Look closer at your models, get little things in there. Put textures on things, don't leave them with solid colors. Due to the frequency of your posts, I think you need to spend more time working with the models you make, tweaking them and perfecting them. Work towards realism. Make sure you look at real life versions of the things you're making before you make them. Just keep working on that! Again, make sure you take your time with the models, and dont be afraid to put them aside and come back to them the next day - patience is important.

Tnx. It seems to me as though you aren't aware of the cursing and shouting I previously got. You, unlike others, say nice things. The issue at hand was 'jaggie' models (moving arm, one case). I think I was prety good with detail in the castle guard. I haven't seen a single word about why I presented TWO ovens for comparison, and which one shows better detail. Regardless of all this I do thank you for your post, and I will try.

yea, looks nice!
the light-effects could be improved. cause the right one makes other shadows than the left one.
but keep on the good work!

I'm afraid you missed the point. The point is: If PS shows a better image, why Bryce? I can play with lights & shadows for eternity and not get to the rendering to my liking

Ah, but you see, if you keep working with PS and you keep working with Bryce, you'll eventually get the Bryce one to look better. PS can do some cool stuff, but when it comes to 3D graphics, more often a 3D program will do the job better.

Yes, Slime has a good point. I think it is a matter of knowing the software. You have obviously used PS a lot more than bryce - and while I agree that the PS version does look better, with more practice with bryce, I believe you'll get much better results in the long run.

Duga, are you sure you understand what 'Rendering' means? I noticed in your 'shark' thread, you said you exported to Bryce and back (to Rhino, I assume). That wouldn't be rendering with Bryce. Rendering is when the program creates an image from the 3D data. A lot of your work seems to be screen captures retouched in Photoshop. If that's all you're going to do, then Bryce is just a waste. The raytracer is the whole reason to use Bryce.

I don't have Bryce here (it's at home), but I remember that the Render button is a big button on the left side of the interface. It fires up the excellent Bryce raytracer, which generates some very high quality images. Play with it. It can generate some very very nice images. If nothing else, you can open the sample scenes and render them.

Here's a link I searched up of an artist who's done some nice Bryce renderings (no one critique him, he's an innocent bystander I dragged in without his knowledge ) Andrew Paul. Browse his gallery, especially page 5. Notice the textures. Notice how the water refracts the image of what's beneath it. Notice the reflections. Notice the realism.

Regarding the stoves, both look for the most part like flat shaded boxes. Without texturing or shadows, a flat box is going to look poor no matter what program you show it in.
