I assume you are a hobbiest then...hehe...

SIGGraph is a conference that basically is the largest gathering of computer/Media Artists. It happens once a year (summer), and is almost a requirment for all people in the industry to go to just to see what to expect in the upcomeing year. For more info go to www.siggraph.org.

Actually, I think the best tutorials are at the blender site: www.blender.nl
and at:
http://www.rash.f2s.com/links.htm

I have blender 2.12 and it's great so far, but definitely difficult to learn.

Well, I'd like to consider myself more than just a hobbiest, but I still don't know jack abut 3D yet. But I don't consider myself a profesional. I have many many years to go before I'll be satasified with calling myself a profesional.

I live in Australia and I always seem to be one of those people that can be involved within a community and miss well, just about everything. If I could even save up enough money to go all the way to the US for that'd be near the top on my list of reasonso for going now..

Been browsing through that site, I thought a web site for something like this would have had more ummm something, anyhow, there's some great stuff there.

One day I'd like to have enough money to fly over to the states and do SIGGraph and go to E3 all in the one trip. No that would be cool. Hey mabey I could get good enough to land a job where they'd pay me to come over heh, one could only hope...

Hell, consider yourself lucky to even get INVITED to E3. No invite, no entry.

You don't need an invite to E3 unless you need it to be free. I'm going this year .. the pass to all the exhibits cost me $150

I was under the impression was closed to those outside of the industry. Maybe I was wrong.

I'll see you at E3

Also...I also urge everyone (no matter WHAT your user level) to try and attend SIGGraph every year. It is a really large event that is always worth the money. You don't have to get the full conference to enjoy it (tho it helps)...just get the exhibit pass and walk around for 4 days. Last years in New Orleans was the best one to date, and I hear this year will top it.

For those who really can't afford it, www.highend3d.com is working on finding a way to organize their own Siggraph-type event for MUCH less money. If they pull it off, expect it to be huge.

Go to http://www.game-developer.com/ and scroll down a little bit, there is a whole section on E3.
