Hey gang,
I know this seems a little strange, but I am getting complaints from my client not being able to 'see' my pages using the AOL browser on a MAC. This seems a little strange as the page completely validates with w3. After trying it out on a mac myself, i couldn't reproduce the problem (which was stated as images overlapping each other, formatting all over the place, tables junked .. no content but the footer .. etc) I tried a MAC with Netscape versions and IE versions but not AOL.

Some research I dug up.
AOL Browser Detection - http://webmaster.info.aol.com/detect.html

Browser Compatibility Chart - http://www.webreview.com/1999/10_29/webauthors/10_29_99_3b.shtml

Has anyone dealt with this? what is the most painless method to fix this browser? I figure an AOL upgrade, (needs AOL to connect) or maybe trying another browser (is IE MAC's best?)
thanks for any insight.

I have NS 6.2.1 (the first NS6 that worked at all on my mac) Opera, and IE5.0. IMHO ie works best (or at least isn't broke). I've seen AOL change the colors of my gif files (web safe colors) I think it had something to do with AOL compressing the files. I've haven't had a page that wouldn'd display at all on AOL. Maybe an upgrade is in order. I read reciently AOL is going to start using Netscape as it's default browser.

Me Again?

jedart,
thanks for reporting
"(or at least isn't broke)" - heh, just what info i needed. I think there is options in aol that compress gfxs that most people don't know can be turned off (probably buried somewhere). Maybe if they stick to one browser (don't they own NS?) we'll get less problems. I'll let the board know what i find out.
