Well, as one can see, speculation of an Asylum 5K Challenge is being considered...you up to moderating, Rameses Niblik the Third? If so, let's get this thing set up...see this thread http://www.ozoneasylum.com/Forum1/HTML/004555.html for how things got started....

That's what I would like to see, as well, Emps...however, maybe Rameses Niblik the Third should decide that...he moderates here...as for the FAQ...if we get this thing off the ground...sure, I'm up for it...

Ok, I've got it started in the Wiki...here http://faq.ozoneasylum.com/FaqWiki/shownode.php?sortby=rating&id=495

Yeah, I'd really like to get both Ini and Doc on this...they both love this stuff...I think Ini actually is sourcecode...

They both have 'experience' on this (as they are both in that competition...let's wish them luck!!!) and i thought that they might want to 'share' their knowledge with the rest of us...and maybe pass some on...and also, they have a much better idea of what goes (rule-wise) and what may be a problem...such as SSI stuff....

BTW - really love the Wiki...that's really turning into something great...glad I could be a (rather small) part of it...

WS: Yes some tips on optimising code would be a great addition and as things progress we should be able to produce a range of tips and tricks and by the time next years competition comes around it'll be brimful of inmates.

Who is in this year? InI, Doc and mahjqa? Anyone else?

By the way if you see anything that might go in the FAQ don't be shy about putting it in and if it needs a little tweaking or more things adding then someone will come along later (which is the beauty of the thing) - as I found when I posted incorrect info on the Asylum nackground colour

Ooh yah, I'm in, I already have another idea I want to play with, something with transparent vertical "scanlines" in nice pastel colors, I guess I'd have to show you, it's hard to describe.

In terms of moderation, it occurs to me that this forum could certainly use an additional moderator, certainly we must have several people around who understand "Stupid Basic HTML" well enough to help out here? If you feel that your skills are being under-utilized, let me know in this thread. (A deep-seated psychosis is optional, but I guess it couldn't hurt. ;-)

Woo-hoo! I'll spend some time laying out some rules and guidlines as I understand them later on tonight. I'll also spend some time going over some useful tricks for keeping things small and tiny, this is going to be fun!

Well I am the only one that is really responsible for "under-utilizing" my skills. I do know quite a bit about "Stupid Basic HTML" and would love to help out.

Deep-seated psychosis? Well I do think I need to wonder off to the shock therapy for a little while

I think that's more than enough to get this going...so we should decide on some rules here...

SSI (server side includes) - yes or no?

Are there any limits at all, other than 5K? I would suggest that either

a) no other limits (allows for better creativity)
B) or those with 'experience' give a couple of tips here about what works, and what is problematic...

If we do decide to go with SSI, then maybe it would also be nice if one could 'post' the SSI code, so that one could see it...this makes for a great learning tool for others observing the challenge...and would bring SSI 'strangers' a bit closer to PHP, Perl and other CGI goodies...

I'm all for the 'monthly' timeframe...that's a good amount of time to play around with (IMHO)...

Yahoo...this is actually going to happen! Joy, joy....

But of course Veneficuz...nobody will be left out...unless they wish to be...I think this will be more like the monthly PS thing as an actual competition...a 'Challenge' so to speak...can you do it under 5K? Of course you can, let's see it!

Well, that's one 'no' for server side includes...

Any others? Yes or no?

Personally, I am against SSIs as well...it's hard to see...and this thing could really help a lot of people learn...esp. if it is 5K...small and tight...weeehaaawww...

So, two 'nos' so far...anyone else?

As for the 64K...hmmm...maybe we should first start with 5K, and see what happens...we can always expand from there...

Too late for what (unless India and Pakistan have started the process of nuking us all back to the Stone Age and if so then the answer may be yes)? I think WS was just asking for a show of hands so that we know it is worthwhile putting the effort in. It looks like it is so on with the show - anyone can jump in whenever they like.

How 'bout you, grumble? You in?

Also, it was first discussed whether or not it would (could) be done, whether or not enough intrest existed...here. The idea actually started in the main forum under Inis post, and I didn't want to 'hi-jack' his thread...so I posted this here. The other post here is the beginning of the actual Challenge. Over in the Ozone forum, I then put a thread that lead to the Challenge, so that people coming to the 'main' forum would know that this is now happening...so 3 threads, total.

If that was too much, then I apologize...maybe I got a little too caried away...
