-- If this is in the wrong place please move it to somewhere better --

.... In finding what?s wrong.

Right I got my re design for my site reviewed here a week ago in the site review forum and it all works fine now but you nice guys only tested it on a PC (which I don't blame you for doing). I got it reviewed some where else and they tested it on a MAC and it's all over the place in IE, but not modzilla or NS, and I don't know why.

-- Site here --

I?m on a mac now (at college) trying to figure what's wrong with it and why it so fu*ked up in IE, which I thought all things worked in fine in.

It's the whole layers thingy I think, because all the layers and some tables appear all messed up in IE. I have got modzilla and it works fine, so any ideas why it's such a mess on the MAC IE?

Any ideas why it's so messed in IE? If no one can help it means pulling it down and remaking it .

Dam this has made me learn to test fully before releasing it world wide, dran it!! :P

Hmmm...I think you may be correct in that (it's in the wrong forum)...and I don't have a Mac, so I can't really test it. At the moment though, I'll let it stand (because I am also curious as to where the problem may lie). So, anyone have IE on a Mac? Or experience with HTML coding on the IE Mac version?

I think I may do a google search on this one...maybe it will turn something up...have you tried that?

Thanks WebShaman,

It a werid problem it works fine on PC, in NS, Modzilla, opera, etc and it's works fine on a mac, in modzilla, opera (exsept the on click load image, which I stumed by too), but in IE it's just a dam right mess. And most of the poeple how will look at the work will or might use a mac (creative industy=mac in most cases) so I wipe out most of my users.

Darn it it really geting on my head this !!! arrrggghh..

I think I'll be learning a BIG FAT lesson from this design!!!

Here DS, I found this http://developer.apple.com/internet/html/doctype.html . I think it may be the solution to your problem...pretty interesting read, really.

Hope that helps...if it does, do I get a cookie?

Hey, I didn't know that Apple had these Developer articles on their site, they look helpful. Thanks for the link, WS!

I'll get you a cookie as soon as I recall where I put all these door keys (of which I need three to get back into my cell) I collected over the months, promised!

weee I learn something new again ,

Don't know if that will work but I never new that you can have some control over how a browser renders things. hhmmm I have to do more reading on it first and then implant it and test it.

Thanks WS, I try it if not I'm doomed and will have to re think it.

*Rule one try and learn as much as you can before making a complex creation *

[Edit - kuckus: yes apple do developer (they have all sorts it just that you have to dig for it) I have been looking over it all day looking for something that can help with this IE mess]

So after some reading here, I think I should try this doc type:

code:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd">

And see how that goes? Any one here with a mac that can just do a test later sometime when I ca't it all together?

Also, Good god I did there WDG HTML Validator, wee so many fu*k ups there have a look, that's dreamwaver for ya. Man that is a mess if it's HTML 4.01 Transitional.

Oh darn it why can't you all use mozilla? please....pretty please, hehe

------ Edit below ------

If your on a mac can you test this pages and tell me which one (if any) redeners the best in IE?

Compare the ones below with this - -no doc type-
HTML 4 trans doc type
HTML 4 strict doc type
HTML 4 lose doc type
HTML 3 doc type

Thanks
