I'm not very experienced when it comes to designing webpages/graphics/logos for other companies. Could someone tell me what you have to go through? i.e. do you have certain contracts you have to sign? Are you obligated to update the webpage, or do you only have to lay the footwork out for them, and leave it up for someone else to update? I've been wanting to get into this kind of bussiness, but I don't really know where to start.

For the company that has hired me my contract is basically like the following.

I update it once a month for a year.
I lay it out to where they can do minor updates.

And for the amount of money I'll get for it I don't mind doing that at all.

Easier said than done in my opinion.

I'm into that stuff a little.
It starts with a friend who thinks our page is the greatest and ask you to do one for him.
Than you find out what he wants. (pircutres, styles, services and so on)
Then you make up the page:

Pictures using a digital camera or a scanner,
Logos using fireworks, photoshop and so on,
DHTML, Flash for special effects,
SQL, JS, PHP for services

And when your done you see how big it is.
Then you can find a serverplace seller with the best conditions
and pass the price for the new url, and so on to your friend (or customer)
If he is ok with it, you help him buy that internet adress and if he can't upload it himself
you ask for a little money or a drink every week-end as a fee to do that or him.

(And then you this page adress in your portifolio.... *g*)
