Just a simple question, but maybe it has a deeper meaning. I like coming here. Like the place, the people. Not always easy, but always interesting. Just wondering.

I love the amount of talent here that allows a constant state of learning for everyone.

I love that people here are free to say anything and most people say exactly what they are thinking.

I love the way this brutal honesty brings people closer together. Even if I hate what someone says, I at least know where they stand and each person's point of view is respected.

It is no secret that I talk about my faith in Christ here a lot. I know that really bugs some people here. But no one has said that I should leave or that I'm not welcome because of my views. I do my best to foster that exact same attitude for everyone else too.

Oh, and me coming here might also have a little to do with the fact that this is the best group of lunatics on the entire net!!!

As Bugs said....to learn.
From time to time we have our differences and occassionally p*** each other off, but whatever those differences, when it comes down to the nitty gritty, this is a good enough reason for me.....

You know, as I first got started with this internet stuff, I learned all about how it got started. At that time, I thought the original founders were pretty, well, Idealistic in what they wanted the internet to be. But somehow, I wanted these beliefs and ideas to be real, somewhere. I find the spirit of the founders here. People helping people for free. Just because they want to. Does Doc consider himself one of the founders of the modern net? I know he started back in 94 (or was it 95?). Now the internet is much older, of course, but I think that around 94-95 is where it began to really take off. He seems to incorporate many of the ideas and beliefs of the founders. Would be interested to know why he does what he does. This forum, for instance. Why did he start it? (he did start it, didn't he?). Does anyone know the true history of this forum? Why was it created? I've read just as much as possible threadwise, but haven't read anything on this. Just questions...

I came here because of the attitude of this place. It's nice to actually see some intelligent people on the internet instead of the drivel that usually pervades it.

This particular Forum...Philosophy and other Silliness...or the Asylum in general....

......whatever.......

Why?? Because a man had a dream, and he gave it life.......
Yep he did.......
The history of the forum is written into the threads every day.......
Why?? Ask him Webshamen......check the dates logged against each member......

The Asylum was born in Feb 2000.....DL-44 was the first registered member.....there were originally only 4 Mad Sci's.......

.....oh yeah....this wasn't the first of Docs Forum's (BB), there was another cool place......some of us crossed over when the Asylum was created......

.....maybe some of the other guys will add some more......

...sheesh am I in a philosophical mood....

Well, I started here as a lark.

But, when it comes right down to it, it's value for value. And I think that holds true for why Doc started this place. Sure, it's out of his pocket, but look at what he gets in return.

Value for value.

I know I don't have a sig yet, and yet I talk "the shite"- I just hope I can make Egyptian Horse-People with feathers on their ears as well as my fellow tribesman from the old "Evergreen State!"

By the way there doc of cyberness- that's APOSTLE... an aposil is some kind of part of a flower or some such nonsense- thanks for all the myrrh and frankincense.

I fell under the spell of the Spheredex -
Stared at it for a couple hours - my boss shouting at me -
I didn't hear it - Became ONE with the Spheredex.
You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile.. At leash if it's under
