I saw a fascinating documentary on TV the other day, about this http://www.chemsoc.org/exemplarchem/entries/2001/robson/boronhydrides.htm

The interesting thing is, a scientist here in Germany has found a way to 'build' large, stable molecules of silicate hydride...which is burnable...making all the deserts of the world into a potiential energy source, easily replacing gasoline...

Because the burning of such fuel does not result in dangerous gases...it is a terrific way to power cars, etc...

What do you think?

My question would be does it take more energy to create the stable silicate hydride than you would get back when burning it? If so, it isn't really viable.

Like any other form of technology gasoline driven products will be phased out on the verge of something new. It could be because of electrity or it could be because of silicate hydride, but sooner or later someones going to find something thats cheaper and easier to use.

Running Cars on ZeroPoint / Orgone Energy.

I've been doing a lot of reading about this lately. I heard about Joe's cell while doing some research on alternative energy sources. While a lot of stuff (this and others) sounds like quackery, at least this is testable, inexpensive, and fairly easy. I don't know thing one about cars, but I am very interested in making my own cell just to see some thing for myself.

More info.

Yes, the energy issue was also raised in that documentary...and the solution was really great...just use the solor energy available in a desert! Not only is it a great idea, but what use are deserts, anyway? Wheeee! And there you have it...

In the documentary, they already had a 'prototype' motor that ran on this stuff...so it could be implemented rather quickly...if it was supported...practically free energy...just the transport costs, of course...and should a ship sink, no oil spills! Oh joy, joy!

It could really change things...

Jestah nailed it with:

find something thats cheaper and easier to use

That's really what will determine the next mass energy source.

I think the main problem is that the large oil companies own all the patents to the free energy machines. They own them and will not use them because they make tons of money off of oil/coal. They do not want to use something cheaper, because they will have to sell it cheaper.

Also, magnetic energy is the best source. For example, there has been an air conditioner sized unit created and owned by one of the large oil companies. This unit can power all the electricity for a single home, with up to 5 bedrooms. This house would be completly self sufficient, so basically, it would put all the major electric companies out of business.

This is the reason we continue to polute the earth. It is due to the fact that all the rich people do not want to go broke, and they own all the patents to this stuff. It's not like it doesn't work, whoever says that is full of S**T. I mean come on. Just read about it anywhere on the internet. The true power is magnetic energy. It is the ultimate source of energy in the universe. Take for example the untaped resource that surrounds our earth, the electro-magnetic field. This is where the true power of our planet sits, its just that it will remain untapped until people stop using electricity fueled by fossil fuels. But we really have no choice right now, I mean we are consumers, not producers: so hopefully the rich patent owners/oil company owners/politicians/George Bush will stop lying to us. But I doubt this will ever happen.

Gilbert, I just did some quick poking around and found out about "Motionless Electromagnetic
Generator".

Let's see...

"...In March 2002, Stephen L. Patrick, Thomas E. Bearden,  James C. Hayes, Kenneth D. Moore, and James L. Kenny received US Patent # 6,362,718 for the Motionless Electromagnetic Generator (MEG)..."

and

"...the device has a Coefficient of Performance (COP) of 5.0."

and

"...advanced research to finish the MEG for scale-up and commercial production. The first commercial units should be rolling off the production lines in about one year, and we expect them to be closed-loop self-powering systems of about 2.5 KW output, but modular..."

Looks pretty easy to build with an amateur lab.

Is this what you are talking about, or something else? Also, Gilbert, I am very interested in any links or search words/phrases that you may have. Feel free to e-mail me if you don't want to discuss such things in the open.

Of course there will be growing pains as entrenched industries become threatened. That is nothing new but it has never stopped progress over the long haul. You can only apply the breaks to cheaper and cleaner energy sources for so long before someone will find a way to market them and gain mass appeal. Gilbert, I would not be so quick to dismiss the power of the free market system. It seems to be the most viable method we have found to achieve the standard of living we are all beneficiaries of today.

You can't just tell people to pay 10 times more for something because it's the "right" thing to do, very few will take that path. In fact, I would ask you how much more you would be willing to pay to use an alternate energy source. Do you drive a car right now? If so, does it burn fossil fuel? Why don't you own a solar car or some cleaner burning vehicle?

Hmmm... while gasoline as a fuel may eventually be outmoded, I think it will always be one of the best ways (if not the best way) to set oneself on fire. Although I've never quite understood how setting yourself on fire in protest accomplishes anything. Personally, I just give myself shock therapy.

Yep, fuel cells... Give 'em another five to ten years (if that), and they'll be ready for prime-time. I, for one, can't wait!

Unfortunately, seeing as how oil companies are making tons of cash from their precious brew, I don't see anything changing for a while. In fact, I believe we'll damn near tap our selves dry and work in a panic to try and find another solution.

Warjournal - I think that thing you are talking about is the same thing, I can't remember the link. This guy I work with is all into this stuff, and he is pretty sure he is going to build one. Like you said, they are pretty easy to construct.

Bug - Lets hope the power of free market can get rolling out before the oil companies slaughter the people that are trying to undermine their operation, like they have been known to do in the past, to find out more about this, e-mail or call up Art Bell.

Soho - ummmmmmmmmm Fire..

Ahhh, fuel Cells? Is that what we are talking about here? Are fuel cells another name for this magnet stuff, or something completly different?
