Moaz did you create those images of mario from scratch or did you download them?

I grabbed all the images as animated gifs from The Mushroom Kingdom. I opened them in image ready, copied out the elements and started building an animation. It came out ok considering I had 100+ layers, I had started with the intent of having a walking turtle on the top that gets flipped/bounced/kicked out away from the pipe and a mushroom pops out of one of the "?" to be promptly eaten by Mario but by the time I got the bricks, blocks. coins, and mario animated I really didnt want to mess with it any longer. I didnt even make it transparent, I couldnt remember how to do it in imageready since it dosent get much use. Initially I was thinking of doing somehting along the lines of beserker or crazy climber but I couldnt find anything that clicked with me for either of those games.

That would be "Wolfenstein" :P

that a really cool idea, mario rocks... i knew it was only a matter of time until someone went with an animated mario

moaiz - you're getting far too much praise here - this isn't healthy - but I have to admit it, its a really really really good animated sig.

In my scepticism, which I'll apologise for in a moment; I need to satisfy my grumbling doubt - asking - "Just how much information/animation/inspiration, did you get from the images you found at the 'Mushroom Kingdom'?".

I invite you to display the original gif(s).

I'm sorry for questioning your creative abilities, heres why: When I first saw your sig I instantly thought "He's stolen that from somewhere. Not the whole thing, but maybe the pixel-perfect Mario, or the spinning coins, or something". That was when I first saw your sig and hadn't read anyone's responses. Then I came back tonight and saw how delighted everyone seems with your sig. So I re-evaluated and pretty much became mesmerized with it - I LOVE the way you've made it stop animating eventually and simply display your name - thats beautifully subtle.

So I love it, yet I doubt it. Put me out my misery so I can appreciate it as much as I want tu!

Or you could just tell me to piss off. :-)

I think this is my first ever sig competition entry. Have to admit I didn't try *too*hard though.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh...SonicSnail it appears you are guilty of the fundamental attribution error. I must confess that my initial reaction was to allay your plagarism concerns by providing the origional PSD file, but you know the saying those who cant trust...

You my find my response a bit less politic than the ideal but we all have our shortcomings.

I am sure that you have the best intentions but maybe there is really no right way to make unfounded allegations of copyright infirngement. So, with that in mind, I will choose to go one step further beyond simply telling you to go fuck yourself, (I really dont use 'piss off' much in the course of my day.)

Here is a zip of all the *.gif's I downloaded from The Mushroom Kingdom, (event he ones I chose not to use) and a *.psd of my sig that has been converted to layers in imageready...Just For You

Now, with the that out of the way I can tell you to go fuck yourself with a clear conscience.

I have a question regaurding my sig. Does it show up as a missing image to everyone? It seems like it does unless you cache the image by directly going to http://wind.prohosting.com/thedorm/zorksig.gif and then coming back. Is this some wack kinda don't host images on your free server technology or is it just my computer being mean to me?

Oh no, um... hey syn any chance you keep a backup of your ftp server? I acciedntly deleted the wrong folder and lost my sigs you were letting me host... including my entry into this contest

lol, I do keep a backup for the past 24 hours... how long ago did you screw up? I hope it was less that that... But I'd really like to know why you don't havea backup of it on your own comp? then you could just upload it again silly...

I threw this together in LiveMotion just today just to be a part of this competition before it ends. I don't expect to win, but I thought it'd be fun to make fun of these little sprites. This sig is not for kiddies...
