it's very good work!
but i think these "parts" dont fit together.
the claws, the text, the rips, they would be all seperate sigs.

I'm going to struggle to explain my thoughts here without a drawing.. but here goes..

Its about the claws - and you had the same "problem" with your last claw...

Ok.. the claws are embossed-3d-whatever.. and are rounded, as opposed to angular. Great - a claw *should* have that "roundedness", a bit like a curved cone.

However - the base of the claw(s) - the part that would have been under the skin/fur, are embossed-3d-whatever in the same way. The base *should* look like its the widest part of the claw, perhaps with a circular/oval "footprint".. The way you have embossed, it makes the base look flat.. almost as sharp as the point.

Maybe you'll get what I mean.. but I'll do a sketch later to show you.

As for Grumble's comment.. how about losing one of the claws, lose the scratches, and change the text to make it look like its been scratched into the forum background (by the claw of course). You're making your scratches look bloody.. how about making them look like genuine scratches in the background?

cool though..

Nice Raptor....I like the idea of the claws being kind of a robotic-futuristic theme....but I would probably get different text to put in there and take out the claw marks on this one. Looking good though I like it

Here´s my two ?-cent...

You could make the text embossed similar to the claws (like they are equally important to this sig).
The scratches could be worked into the "heighthmap" (sp?) of the text, tying things together even more.

edit: on a second look, the shading of the claws could have more "punch", if you know what I mean - I´d expriment with making a copy layer of the orange areas and one of the grey areas place them over the existing layer and play with blending modes and maybe curves.

Anyways, I totaly love the claw-idea .

Ok first off pick a light source,

see what I mean?
Just making one claw and then flipping it does not work or make a good image. It confuses the brain.
See that "metal" / grey stuff on those claws? shouldn't the brushed metal lines curve to indicate dpeth, instead of looking flat?
Next simply put, that font just does not seem to match the claws, it's missing something.
If the "rips" are there, shouldn't they be 3D? Not flat? Also with placing "claws" at the ends of the sig, it looks like there would be a greater space between them (ie not /// but / / /, see what I mean?)
It's a good start, but just don't leave it at that.

that brings back memories F1 I think the first piece I posted way back when I joined the Asylum, it was either you or DG, who pointed out the very same thing about lighting to me about my work!

That has stuck with me ever since! heh Glad you popped in !

Raptor: I tend to agree with all said so far... I like the concept but see room for a lot more work! If ya got time that is! lol

I think maybe the texture on the claws needs to go in the direction of the claws instead of across it. Other than that it is pretty cool.

The claws are very old-iMac-like in appearance.
