The font in my sig is none other than Bellbottom Laser. I don't know why, but I've always kind of liked that font, and it fit this month's theme perfectly.

Further explanation for GRUMBLE's sig:

The SIG is more "correct" than you may think InSiDeR...In a foggy environment (such as a sweaty 70's disco joint), rays of light can and will be seen behind an object opposite its light source. When there are more particles in the air for light to reflect off of (fog), there is mirroring upon mirroring of light which causes those particles to become more visible. This is why it is dangerous to turn on your car's bright headlamps where fog has settled on roadways. Diffracted light (basically light that manages to make its way around corners) may also be seen more vividly in a foggy atmosphere.

Diffraction experiment: Find a door in your home that has been hung level and plumb. Place a bright lamp just outside the door of the room. Now go into the room and shut off the lights. Close the door so that it is only open a hair. Walk away from the door and keep your eye on the lamp (outside now) through the slit of the door. You will notice that there is a wider appearance of light nearer to the bulb even though the slit is the same width all the way up and down. Pinhole cameras are based upon this idea. And it is also the reason some people require glasses...misshapen lens...

Perhaps GRUMBLE'S SIG would be more convincing if the rays were narrowed slightly, but my monitor isn't the best either...But that would really depend on where the light is on the Z-axis, and that is hard to tell as well.

I think you're all looking at GRUMBLE's Sig wrong. Turn your monitor upside down and look at it. It changes. It has Escher written all over it. If you know how to look at it it lays out fine with a radial expression of shadows beyond the letters. If you look at it the other way it looks like the light comes from behind the letters. Makes for a great optical illusion. Of course... he may have wanted it to appear that way.

Either way, Nice Job GRUMBLE

Moth correct me if I'm wrong, and I may very well be, but wasn't the 60's the tie die generation? I love the tagline it is very off of creative but I am not sure your decade is absolutely correct.

Have you ever seen a blacklight poster, Insider? It's about as seventies as you can get.

as a tie-dye connoisseur I would say that it does not even make me think of tie-dye.

It is very psychedelic though. An excellent addition to this months sigs!

*Sigh*

InSiDeR: Scroll back up to the top of the thread. Now read the part where izzay mentions a specific decade. Yes, I know you're trying to pin Moth's sig as a 60s sig even though it says 70s, but who cares?

My point is that izzay left this pretty wide open, and he specifically said that he was looking for creativity and craziness over perfection.

This is just my personal philosophy, of course, but I don't usually consider myself eligible to comment on other people's sigs until I've entered my own. I noticed that you have no sig this month.... Now, I'm not saying that you should stay out of the thread, I'm just saying that maybe you should spend less time criticizing other people's sigs and get off your butt and make your own. You obviously have a lot of creative energy at the moment--why not channel that into a killer entry?

Thank you Eyezaer.

I just don't get Insider initially thinking it's tie-dye. And I really, really don't get why he thinks it's a tie-die after I told him it was a black light poster.

Oh well, to each his own.

YES! That is the key to life! Holding things in that will only cause conflict!

One becomes a master of that art when he actually avoids saying even that he *is* holding something in.

Amen, brother.

Now let's see some funky sigs!

[Edit: As for the "key to life" thing, some would say that the key to life is discarding the passions and desires that lead to one wanting to say things that will cause conflict. If you say these things, they will cause conflict between you and others, but if you hold them in, they will cause inner turmoil--it's a no win situation. Thus, the true answer is to eliminate the problem at its source. I'll let you all know once I actually figure out how to do that...]

**PRE SIG POST**

insider: please bear the following in mind...

Point 1

The 70s was a decade of turmoil.
It began with reflection of what had preceded (the birth and death of rock and roll, the rise and fall of the hippies).
The use of psychedelic drugs such as LSD had begun to wan by this time, and new avenues of mind bending were sought.

A new age of dark 'Hard Rock' begun to creep across the world. A theme adopted by many who were increasingly disillusioned with the love&peace dictated by earlier generations. Generations who had begun to recognis the fruitless nature of their obsession, and became increasingly depressed with the shape of the world.

At this time, Heroin became the drug of choice, since for many, there was a perception that there was in fact, 'no future' for the world.

Then, in the middle of this decadence and depression came DISCO!

A whole new generation realised that you can't change the world with marches and slogans, so they declared - "What the hell... let's just get down and enjoy what we've got"

DISCO was little more than a concoction of musical styles.

Caribbean beats met rock and roll guitars, and a whole new generation was born... free to plagiarise all that had gone before, as long as a funky back beat was applied.

The theme of this months sig contest is then clear - recycle recycle recycle.
Do what you like, borrow from where you like, as long as the result takes your work in a new direction. But possibly more importantly, ensure that it's FUNKY!!!

Point 2

I've not been here that long, but there's one constant theme which I've picked up from the Asylum.

People generally don't give a rats a$$ what you think or say.

You speak before thinking, and you react without considering.

You're infantile, and insolent, believe that the world revolves around you, and get stroppy when you feel that you aren't the centre of attention.

insider - you have a whole lot of growing up to do - so please,,, go and do it.

Point 3

An apology, to everyone else, for being so blatant with my opinions, and for going off topic, but I've needed to say this for some time, and since the thread was already hijacked, I figured - what the heck.

p.s. a sig WILL be following shortly ? how could I resist such a theme!
