Bascically, I would like to get a server-side hit counter that logs and reports all sorts of detailed information about the people who are surfing my sites. This script would be used on a commercial site, and I would like to find a free one if I could. Any ideas?

btw, I am not looking for a "service", or a remotely hosted application. I need something that I can setup, host, and maintain on my server.

Here're a few PHP scripts:

BTW As I've said before, best statistics are those that are generated from server log files and there are a few very good log file analyzers out there (WebAlizer, ModLogAn, AWStats)...

We use webtrends. It also analyses the server log files.

WebTrends is extremely thorough and nice. Almost too thorough actually
