Hi all,

This may be a silly question..

I know I can capture where a user has come from by the referrer tag, in IE or ASP or anything it seems - but is it possible to log where a user goes from your page if they don't hit a link but enter something in the address bar?

Cheers,

Pete

no, i dont think that's possible.

maybe you can get the history like in javascript with document.history but i dont know if this array also gives you the complete url.

The poster has demanded we remove all his contributions, less he takes legal action.
We have done so.
Now Tyberius Prime expects him to start complaining that we removed his 'free speech' since this message will replace all of his posts, past and future.

Thanks all for responding.

I like the idea InI had.. though I don't really know enough to try to work it..

I've done dozens of web-searches and found nothing on this so I'm going to take it for granted that its never been done - because it can't be done..

would be cool though :-) "Today, visitors have left this site to go to ******"

nevermind,

cheers,

Pete

I don't think InI's will work most of the time. If they go to a page outside your site I don't think you will be able to access the location parameters.

Maybe the history but I'm not sure.

I doubt that web browsers will ever allow this. If they allowed web page to see what visitors type in address bar or allow access to the history log, that would be a serious privacy violation...
