Is it possible to tell apache to run PHP as user X in group Y in a directory Z ?

Ini, I believe there is a method!

I'm not into Apache too......

But I saw a case when an authorization box pops up, you then enter your username/pass and the PHP scripts will be run as having same power as the authorized user.

When PHP runs as Apache module there's absolutely no way to change the user/group that it will run as (it will run as the same user/group as Apache). If you want to change the user/group that it runs as, you must run PHP as CGI, and then use suEXEC or cgiwrap to control how scripts execute...
