Thank dog, the storm is over.
But something is not right!
The east wing looks like... the north wing,
The electro torture, ouch, therapy chamber is
in the highest room of the highest tower now?
What?!
The inmates will need years till they find the way around
again. Well, at least it won't be raining into the secret labs
anymore, for they have been filled with rock.

Welcome to pretty much the same old asylum it was yesterday.
Most of you have been aware of the development of 'the Grail'
and 'today is the day, I believe we can end this war'. Sorry,
wrong movie. But it's still the same people who make this place great.

While the inmates were locked into their cells, during the storm,
little imps managed to overthrow the gremlins that had reigned this
place for... some unspecified time. Of course, they started their reign
by changing around everything.
I hope you like it.
This near to the end of this voyage, I don't feel like a man of many words.
Please have a look at the ->cool new features, or at ->what a Mad Scientist needs to know.
->Feedback on the new asylum is welcome and the imps will be around the next couple of days
to enlarge cells and install the little stream of blood in the hallways again.

These -> thingys are linkwords, by the way, very handy. Also work for some other pages, like
the very first wiki: c2->WelcomeVisitors. See ->aboutUBB for a list.
Also check out the backlinks. Click any title (for example a user's cell) and get
a list of pages that link there.

Thanks to anyone who accompained me on this endless trip, to anyone who gave us input (yes,
even to the people wanting a post count. See ->ranking system for how that one has been solved),
and everyone I've had to put to work.
Special thanks to kuckus (who did quite a bit of coding, and never complained
whenever I shoved annoyingly simple or annoyingly complex issues on his desk),
mahjqa (who did most of the graphics) and Emperor who always had a link or an opinion for every issue
we ran across.
Thank you, Skaarjj, mas, docilebob, synax, cameron, and whomever I forgot, who directly contributed in small but important ways.
Thank you, Kevin, for making this place possible, and letting me try my hand at this.
I hope you like the results when you come back.

That's it. I'm off to the tub. If this places goes down within the next hour, I can't help it.
So long,
Tyberius Prime.

Well, although i don\'t spend a lot of time here at the asylum, i do feel the need to make a post congratulating you on doing such a wonderful job. I haven\'t had enough time to look around the place properly yet but from what i have already seen, things are looking great.

Like i said before i don\'t really get a lot of time to post at this place but i do try to pop in two/three times a week to have a browse through the newest topics, and you guys really do seem to be some of the most helpful people i\'ve come across on the net.

Congratulations to Tyberius Prime and everyone else he mentioned in his first post, you\'ve done a great job.

No really!
I can't even begin to imagine how much work this must have been and how much time that has been invested (actually I can, but still).

I for one is both awed and amazed that it in these money_hungry_greedy_all_for_number_one_days still exist people willing to donate/share so much of the most valuable commodity, the one we all have a limited amount of, their very own time.

A standing applause to all involved!
To outbuild all those existing forums out there for just this place... wow!

Aaah... I just noticed that we're having a bit of a linkword / FAQ link problem as most of them still seem to be pointing to grail.ozoneaslum.com, which doesn't exist any more. So if anyone hits a dead end through some link it's very probable that this is the cause - you can replace 'grail.' with 'www.' manually for now until we find a way to fix this. Newly inserted links aren't affected, just the 10,000 created by the importer and us before going live...

I'll go into TP's first post here to at least fix those linkwords for the time being.

Kudos to TP and kuckus (and all others who aided them) on a job well-done.

A few things I've noticed though (sorry TP :x )

? The link to the adminLog is broken

? The graphic that accompanies the Sink is broken

? More of a question than a problem: what is the icon supposed to be next to the threads in the Sink?

I also have to say I got a kick out of the ranking system. Very original

AAAAH!

oh dear...... a few little things making me a little uncomfortable in here, please forgive me if they've already been discussed!

  • I can't find a next/previous thread link! Has this feature been removed?
  • I can't find a clickbutton for the list item code - which also seems to have changed. (heh, should've seen the usage text earlier, hey? this issue no longer an issue for me.
  • There seem to little oddities with the insert UBB code - wanting to close a tag that has since been deleted, etc. I would think that the best way to implement this sort of thing would be to insert the opening and closing tags together, and have the cursor in between, but i suppose this wouldn't be as handy for the keyboard shortcutters.
  • The enlarge button - should it change to a 'contract' button, or just keep getting bigger? The way it currently is, it doesn't actually keep doubling.... pressing it 3 times makes the area 3 times larger, not 8 times larger, i think!
  • Editing a post - it wants to edit the previous post! I'm sure you're already aware of this, but i have to manually increment the post count by 1 to edit my own post.

Seriously tho, these are really just little things.... i have my issues with the whole ranking / post count thing, but i'll save that for later! Very tidy job, sir. I tip my hat to you.

Yes... and thats probably the only beef i have with the system. TP said it was a lot of extra code to impliment... i think, correct me if i am wrong. Made it sound like a pain to add.

And I say thats garbage, sister.

or wait... He does seem to know what he is talking about.

Oh well. It is a vast improvement over what was. I like.

That's what I get from quoting from random latin webpages

quote:

-indeed. We're investigating that one.

Previous/Next - a) it would interfer with declaring the next page 'next'. (Use a highly modern browser like the current opera, to see what I mean. It blends in a little menu allowing you to click things like home/search/next/up/...)). And it would be nearly impossible to do in a straight forward way, without doubling the amount of queries used on a thread display. (ie slowing this down by 100%.)
