Topic: What I love about our new asylum. (Page 1 of 1)

You have to accentuate the positive,
eliminate the negative,
latch on to the affirmative,
and don't mess with mister in-between!

Just thought this forum needed a positive twist. When it comes down to it, we love the asylum, and really appreciate the blood, sweat and pills that have gone into it.

So, let's mention the little goodies we've encountered, the things we love.


For me:

I love how easy it is to add a new forum, to manage threads, posts, forums, the asylum.

I love, love LOVE how well blockquote works.

I love the laziness of clicking for smilies, ubb, copy/paste, and the speed in which one can reply to a thread with a richly formatted, quality post.

I love how the whole site looks just like the old asylum, with a little renovation. How it's a tasty mix of the old classic feel with some funky new doodads and thingamybobs.

I love how although every page has been dynamically generated by a highly complex, large amount of code, you can view the HTML and it's all formatted neatly and cleanly, and oh-so-readable.

I love how we can keep such a rich history of our time here in the asylum, with our fantastic archiving system.

Love'n the new reply system. Supa stremlined. Yah.

I really love the "moved posts" notices. I was alway unhappy with how the old asylum handled this.

Having the FAQ and the Asylum using the same system really helps too. It's much easier to move between them.

The change logs rock.

Having the ability to jump to the last updated thread from the index is a godsend, espically with the forums that see less traffic.

A decent and speedy search! I can't express my love for this enough because there are minors present.

The poster has demanded we remove all his contributions, less he takes legal action.
We have done so.
Now Tyberius Prime expects him to start complaining that we removed his 'free speech' since this message will replace all of his posts, past and future.
Don't follow his example - seek real life help first.

Just having the quick reply is great... no more clicking on the post reply. Plus all the little widgets, and the drop down menu. I love all of this...

My favorite thing is that i dont have to check each thread to see if something new was posted (the thing showing new and old posts in the older asylum seemed more random, at least with my cache). Now i just see who is the last dude who posted.

I REALLY love the quick reply and quick quote, although i wish the sig wouldn't be included.

I love linkwords and the way to link to any place of here (the [##] thingie).

I cant say of anything else because I hardly use the rest.

The looks; feels like the old one, but still new
The 'post reply'; much better this way!
The quote feature; including the name of the users quoted makes it much easier to use/read quotes
The FAQ; as good as the rest of the page and love how it is integrated with the Fourm
Linkwords; simply and amazing idea. Wonder why people haven't started using that before

I really really really love Quick Changes. It is so nice to be able to jump on and see what recent posts there are. Since there are times when I don't have a lot of time to read everything, it's nice to be able to look at what's going on. it also allows one to participate in more forums than one might have on the old version - because all the new threads are in one place.

I like having the reply box at the bottom of the thread page - a much less complicated design element...

And I just love the Asylum for being here in the first place! (You know that includes all you wonderful folks who code, build, graphic-ize and moderate the whole shebang...)
