I'm a Star Wars fan, definitally not to the extent of others, but I do love my Star Wars. The original ones.

Then came along Star Wars 1, 2 and now 3 in 2005. They were bad. Horrible, maybe: the first's soap opera esque scene was the final nail in the coffin.

However, I didn't know about this: The Star Wars Christmas Special.

The Script

I think that the 2 newer movies suddenly look a whole lot better.

I don't understand people who put down SWs Episodes 1 & 2 as bad movies. People have an innate tendency to put down new things when it rivals older things and its something I don't understand. Neither episodes were remotely bad. While everyone is prone to like different things, both movies had compelling story lines, good character development, good special effects, outrageous soundtracks, and Natalie Portman. What more does a movie need?

The Christmas Special sounds excellent though. I'll have to search the neat.

While they weren't as bad as most movies produced, when compared to the original 3, they were horrible. Haydeen Christenson and Jake Lloyd were the two worst actors, ever, and for some reason they were cast as Anakin. (Ok, So Mark Hammil is obnoxious. I'll give you that.). They completely destroyed the mysterious nature of the force by resolving it; calling it Myd;lakjclejasdl;ck (some that starts with M. I used to read the Star Wars books. I never heard mention here). Jar Jar: horrible. Lots of mediocre CGI held together by some mumbo-jumbo about the Trade Federation. And however cool Darth Maul looked in the early concepts, he comes off as fairly comic. The second movie was an improvement, and had good fight scenes (the final fight scene rocked, with the clone warriors). Maybe it had good character development, but it was undermined by bad acting. The special effects were cheesy, even when I watched it at the movie theatre (for example: Matrix Revolutions (not good as well) at least convinced me it wasn't CGI the first time I saw it).

But maybe it's all reconciled by the presence of Natalie Portman in her cut-off shirt in the second episode. And yoda's fight scene.

I used the word "horrible" because it's convenient. It's not horrible. Go to your local video store and you'll see it's not that horrible, but it pales in comparison to the first 3, although they have their cheesy moments and bad acting as well.

I still am having trouble tracking down that Christmas Special.

Chances are fantastic you will never see these shows, and you won't want to, either.

I saw this as a child and I remember it being awful. That's from the persepctive of a kid. I don't remember a whole lot about it but I do recall thinking it was just_so_wrong.
