so... is it easy to change usernames now? or has that changed at-tall?

The amount of work needed hasn't really changed - it is still a manual process of updating about 3-5 places, and therefore error prone.

If you want a new name, I suggest you sign up anew, and link from your old cell to your new via your contact details.
