InI: I'm not sure if there is really anyway to know. I'd guess that they wouldn't assign such importance to TITLE or ALT attributes as they would to actual link text (esp. as they could be used for spamming) but Google doesn't just rank specifically on the text of the link but also the content of the page that links to it (I think we've all got search results where one of the keywords was actually on the page linking to the one the search has returned) and so the ALT and TITLE would come in there in a general way along with all the other text on the linking page (with that in mind you'd also want to name all your images with the right keywords). |

well, earlier today I learned that decoration images should have an alt of '' (not that I'd use any screenreader I couldn't tell to ignore 'decoration' in alt tags...). |

A decoration graphics might be the top left hand corner of an interface which doesn't do much other than be a top left hand corner. Clearly if you've sliced something up into 10 or 20 small graphics (whihc might repeat a number of times on a page) then actually giving them all meaningful attributes like ALT="top left corner" would make using a screen reader on the page useless. |

I like poi's idea of adjusting the UBB to allow people to add their own alt text. I don't think automatic addition of alt text or title text would be a good idea. First of all, if it was automatic, it would have to be generic, thus making it fairly useless. Yes, it would be "accessible," but it would also be pointless on the semantic level. Secondly, users should be responsible for making sure their images are accessible, and if they don't that's their problem. The Asylum is not responsible for the content of a user's post, so why should it be responsible for the accessibility of their sigs? |

I feel that those link need to be on some other website! It might be true but the ponderation could be extremly low. |

well... a [ img=my alt text]url[/img] tag in addition to [ img]url[/img] shouldn't be much of a problem. |
