What is a physical memory dump, and why does Windows do that ?
I`m running WIN 2K pro, with 1024 Mb RAM. All of a sudden, I get a blue screen that says:

Stop : 0x00000026 (0x00041fo, 0xB5C8CEC3L, 0XB5CSCAG4, 0xBJF56797) CDFS_FILE_SYSTEM
***addess B6F5 6797 Base at B5f4E000, Datestamp 3814ag48-cdfs.sys
Begining dump of physical memory
Dumping physical memory to disc : (count to 100)

Then it puts a gig+ in a file called MEMORY.DMP
Anyone heard of this ?

The poster has demanded we remove all his contributions, less he takes legal action.
We have done so.
Now Tyberius Prime expects him to start complaining that we removed his 'free speech' since this message will replace all of his posts, past and future.

For the record, my physical memory was (mostly) dumped long ago. (and that could turn into a huge thread. I mean when God said "Let there be light" Doc and I arm wrestled for the honor of flipping the switch. I got to flip the switch, and Doc wrote the rotator script.)

Thanks , Ini.
Next stupid question..What can you open a 1+ gig text file with ?

In my experience, memory dumps are usually caused by RAM overheating (overclocking) and video problems.

Have you done anything with either the RAM or video recently?

It`s only happened twice and I had just finished burning a CD both times. So, good call Ini. I should have mentioned that in the first place. I wasn`t hoping to be able to interpret the file itself, just to open it to delete the contents without deleting the file itself. I`ve found that Exel will accomplish this.
No changes to RAM or video. No updates. No overclocking. And the burner/CD ROM and DVD player have worked many times in between incidents and since without problems. ~shrugs~
My guess is that it`s something Nero related, as that seems to be the common denominator. I`ll re-install it and hope that stops it.
Thanks all for the info.
