Hi,

I'm still learning the basics of Photoshop and needing a little help. I'm wondering if there is a way to use the pen tool in (or as) a vector mask... for example... when I create a vector mask on a layer I can use the brush tool to paint black or white to create the mask affect. But if I try to use the pen tool it just creates another layer. Can this be done? Peace.

Oh, using Photoshop CS.

edit: I figured out how to use the pen tool to create a vector mask (right click select Create vector mask) but that still isn't what I'm looking for. I want the pen area I draw to be the "masked" area, not the visable area.

You need to have the second button (path) checked in your option bar: once you are ready to add paths on your vector mask, you need to be creating a path, not a custom shape (the first button) or a bitmap shape (the third button)

Hope this helps...
